Glitter for the Children
On New Year's Eve this year, instead of focusing on popping champagne, we had a booth at The Dark Moon Rising Festival in Pai, Thailand to raise money for Warm Heart Children's Home. Our friend Cam, of PoiZen Productions, generously let us have be a vendor at his festival. We sold funky cat shirts, had a tie-dye station, and put glitter on people's faces. We had a blast meeting new people and spreading the word about our well building project for Warm Heart. We need to raise $2,500 to build a well to provide the children at the orphanage with clean water.
Shawn and I first visited the orphanage in July and were inspired to make a change. We asked Evelind and Michael, the gracious founders, what is the first project on their list that we could help them with. She said building a well, and we said done. We have taken it under our belts to raise $2,500 to build the well. Currently, we are at $1,000 almost halfway. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated thus far, every dollar counts.
The orphanage is located in Phrao, Thailand. Just an hour and a half northeast of Chiang Mai. During the rainy season, their well was severely damaged, and it is unusable. They need to make a completely new one.
Currently, they are wasting money ordering water, which is an expense that should not be a part of their spread sheets. With this well not only will the children and staff of the orphanage have water, surrounding hill tribe villages will as well.
The children at the orphanage attend classes at a surrounding school. The orphanage has to pay for the school bus to take them both ways every single day. If Warm Heart wasn’t providing this service, the children would be left abandoned, uneducated, and in poverty in northern Thailand for the rest of their lives.
As soon as we can get the funds, construction can start immediately. To get to the water, they will need to drill down 390 feet and install a powerful pump at the bottom. They will also need to build a huge, underground cistern to hold a big enough reserve of water for the kids.
Once we get funds, we are ready for the second project, focusing on education as the kids know that's their golden door to relieve themselves of poverty in Northern Thailand.
Please consider donating to change the lives of hill tribe children forever. Help them crawl out of their villages of poverty in Northern Thailand. We need your help and they need it more. You can also help by sharing this link to spread awareness. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for everyone who supported our cause at the festival. Every glittered face and cat shirt brings the children closer to having clean water. If you would like to get involved in our project or volunteer at the orphanage please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you!
