New Zealand Glacier Heli Hike
As many of you may know, in April we drove the entire country of New Zealand in a campervan. We have many stories to share about the epic adventure, but we'll break that down post by post. The highlight of our 15 days in NZ was the Fox Glacier Heli Hike in the South Island.
We used the company Fox Glacier Guiding and took a helicopter to the top of a glacier and hiked it! I never thought we could ever do anything this cool. The company provided us with jackets, socks, boots and crampons, which are spikes you attach to your boots to help you walk in the ice.
We were lucky that we had a small group with young active people so the guide was able to take us farther. We hiked for 4 hours! Our guide showed us hidden crevices and interesting parts of the glacier. This was very expensive, but one of those experiences you'll never regret.
The helicopter ride over the glacier was spectacular. Riding in a helicopter was not something high on my bucket list, but now it's already crossed off. These days there isn't a point in making a bucket list. It's becoming easier to say yes to everything and crossing it off the imaginary list. As long as we keep doing something new on every adventure, we'll never need to keep up with a bucket list.
