An Adventure at the Chiang Mai Zoo

An Adventure at the Chiang Mai Zoo

The Chiang Mai Zoo is an adventure and I can't recommend it enough. My favorite movie We Bought a Zoo was brought to reality.

The zoo is very large, so I would suggest staying for at least 3 hours to enjoy and experience the entirety. You have the option to pay for the zoo and aquarium, but we opted only for the zoo portion. We didn't find it necessary to pay the extra 500 baht. We did however, pay extra to see the pandas. The fact that my nickname is Amanda Panda and my mom has made me pose in front of every panda statue since I could walk, was our reason.

Our favorite part about the zoo was feeding the hippos. It is the craziest animal I've ever seen in real life. I've never seen an animal that looked that plastic or fake before. They looked like cartoon characters! They were also a lot larger than I pictured. It was quite the experience as the enclosures were very low, so it felt like the hippo could jump up and take my arm.

I was very excited about the panda exhibit, but I have to say that I was a disappointment. I enjoyed watching the pandas eating bamboo, but there were only two behind an enclosure. After saying hi to our panda friends, It started pouring. We found an alcove and were happy to enjoy our childhood day and eat popsicles at a snack stand.

Once the rain cleared, we saw many different types of monkeys, sheep, birds, tigers and lions. We were very fulfilled by the experience. It was such a fun afternoon!
